5 Interesting things week of October 6th 2025

  1. Start your day with poetry
Read something uplifting to set the tone for your day — try The Daily Poem from poets.org. For deeper appreciation of poetry, check out the book How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry And if you are unsure about a poem’s meaning? Paste it into a GPT tool and ask for an explanation.
  2. Exploring musical sketches
Day 4 of musical sketches shows how Strudel can be used to create music. While environments like this can feel more complex than working directly in Ableton, I like how he’s building intricate rhythms to feed into Ableton. Strudel also has a REPL for experimenting with the language — though if you want to output MIDI to Ableton, you’ll need Chrome (due to Web MIDI support).
  3. Finding Inspirational art online
With Pinterest flooded by AI-generated content and Instagram hiding the artists you follow, I’ve been searching for better sources of inspiration. So far, Behance and ArtStation have been great. It’s ironic — as the internet grows, finding truly good content gets harder due to the platforms catering to the lowest common denominator to maximize profits. I can see the future, and it's nothing but AI generated videos of people getting hit in the crotch.

  4. Setting art goals
Stop doing random creative work and start focusing on the direction you want to grow.
  1. Looking for a guitar solo that seems complicated but is pretty easy? try the Alive solo by Pearl Jam.
